More about the Civil War.

Ta-Nehisi Coates has a good post on the topic of the Civil War and slavery. He raises a lot of good questions and receives lots of interesting and useful comments. If you’re into history, it’s a pretty good read.

(And, for those interested, here is a post that I did a few weeks ago that touches on some points that are related both to these questions, and more directly, to Ron Paul’s general thoughts on the Civil War.)

  1. Most of Coates rhetorical questions are answered by what happened after reconstruction ended. Segregation and share cropping.The Civil War was industry over agriculture. Slavery was just an excuse. The only result for the slaves was being elevated to serfdom.
