Your suggestions wanted!

I’m currently about halfway through The Kitchen Brigade by Laurie Boris. After that, I’ve got Volume Two of The Precipice Dominions by R.J. Llewellyn on tap and after that… really nothing in the way of indie books to read.

So I’m seeking your suggestions. What indie books do you recommend? While not essential, I have a strong preference for those I can get on Kindle. And yes, you can suggest your own book if you want to.

  1. I am pleased to suggest any of the books by Lorinda J. Taylor. Either the Ki’shto’ba series — epic adventures of intelligent termites — or The Man Who Found Birds Among the Stars, a biography of a 28th Century astronaut. The latter features interstellar travel using temporal quantum ships, but it’s really the story of one man, Robbin Nikalishin, and his struggles with life. No magic here, it’s solid, realistic (within reason) fiction. And the termite series — I was put off by the idea of giant bugs, but they are truly relatable characters, although not humans in bug form. Ms. Taylor has done her research. The invented languages in this series are also remarkable. I can’t recommend these books highly enough.

  2. You didn’t say what genres you were open to, so I’ll recommend a variety of stuff (but mostly SFF) that I currently have in queue on my Kindle. Caveat: I haven’t read any of these titles yet. I have high hopes for them based on their blurbs, excerpts, and my previous experiences with the authors, though!

Dollar Tales from the Morbid Museum: The Ghosts Inside by James Pack.

Utopia Pending: A Collection of Short Speculative Fiction by Fallacious Rose.

Patient Zero: Post-Apocalyptic Short Stories by Terry Tyler.

    The Unpublishables by Noah Goats.

Duality: Poems, Essays, and Reflections by Shykia Bell.

The Letters by Satya Robin. (She has other self-published books, too).

Regretfully Invited: 13 Short Horror Stories by Jan L. Mayes.

    Typo Squad by Stephen Lomer.

M Is For Munchers: The Serial Killers Next Door by Alexandria Constantinova Szeman. (She has many other self-published books, too).

Checkmate: Tales of Speculative Fiction by Icy Sedgwick.

    1. Thanks, Lydia! I’m open to just about anything, so I’ll give these a try. I’ve actually already read Utopia: Pending and The Unpublishables, and really enjoyed both, so I look forward to hearing what you think of them. Thank you again. 🙂

    1. Well, don’t let it take too much time from writing… it’s only a matter of time before I finish Volume 2, and then I’ll be wanting a new Precipice Dominions novel to read. 🙂

      1. Thank you.😃
Seriously those words of encouragement mean a great deal. 😃.
(It’s on its way…not so easy because the characters keep springing surprises on me. They’re a lively, independent lot)

  3. Give my Vander’s Magic Carpet a try. It’s about trying to market a flying car after September 11, 2001
